LYONS EQUIPMENT COMPANY, INC. |

Lyons Trading Post was founded by Harvey (Jack) Lyons in 1947 in Little Valley, New
York; a village of some 1100 hardy souls. The Company sold Frick mills, chain
saws and other supply items to the sawmill and logging trade. The business occupied
an old turn-of-the-century building which had seen its better days. The Company
survived and was joined in 1961 by John Lyons after his four years as a Naval aviator
and graduation from the University of Florida. Over the years, the name changed to
Lyons Distributing Company.
In 1962, Lyons started selling Timberjack, Prentice, and Morbark products. It
incorporated in 1963 and assumed the name of Lyons Saw Mill & Logging Equipment
and Supplies, Inc. As his health failed, Jack relinquished control to his son and
eventually sold him the Company in 1967. By then, the Company had expanded to
Circleville, Ohio, and eventually Pennsylvania, Kentucky, West Virginia and New Jersey.
The product lines have changed but the goal remains the same: Provide the best
products to the best customers in the world.
